First Technical Interview and the Next Step
Hello, this is Haruta Watanabe.
First, I apologize for the delay in this post.
While I usually develop mobile apps and websites, I have now completed the 28th week of my studies with a view towards a career as a software engineer and data scientist. This week, I entered the earnest selection phase for summer internships, making it an important week to understand where I currently stand.
Week 28 Reflection
This week, in parallel with my regular studies, I participated in several selection processes for summer internships.
In particular, I experienced my first-ever interview in a format close to a technical interview. As a result, I acutely felt my lack of ability and was unable to demonstrate the performance I had hoped for. However, facing the “difficulty of logically explaining my technical skills verbally” in a practical setting was a very significant takeaway. Using this frustrating experience and reflection as fuel, I will thoroughly rework my preparation for future selections.
Week 29 Goals
In week 29, I will focus on practical preparation to get through the upcoming selections and on solidifying an unwavering foundation.
- Thorough Preparation for Coding Tests With multiple coding tests coming up, I will conduct practical exercises with time limits, aiming to reliably secure good scores.
- Continued Study of Algorithms and Data Structures As the foundational skill that forms the root of interviews and tests, I will continue to deepen my understanding of algorithms and data structures.
Going Forward
I will continue to post a summary of my previous week’s reflection and my goals for the current week every Monday.
Thank you for your continued support.
